Greenville takes series finale from Lexington, 4-1

Greenville starter Stolmy Pimentel and two relievers limited the Lexington Legends to six hits as the Drive won 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Applebee’s Park. Greenville took the lead in the third inning when David Mailman tripled to left center field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Federowicz. They added a run in the fourth when Ryan Lavarnway walked, went to third on a single by Kade Keowen and came home on a sacrifice fly by Mitch Dening. Lexington scored its run in the bottom of the sixth. With one out, Eric Suttle doubled. He scored on Steve Brown’s two-out single. The Drive added to their lead in the ninth. Dening reached on an error by shortstop Ronnie Ramirez. Michael Almanzar followed with a single, and Ryan Dent’s sacrifice put runners at second and third. Zach Gentile then singled to center, scoring two runs. Pimentel (4-3) got the win. Armando Zerpa relieved in the sixth and pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings. Lance McLain worked the ninth to earn his fourth save. Lexington starter Ross Seaton (6-5) took the loss. The Legends will remain at home for a three-game series against Asheville. First pitch Monday night is set for 7:05 p.m.
