Legends pound out 13 hits, beat Tourists 7-2

(ASHEVILLE, N.C.) The Lexington Legends ran their winning streak to three games with a 7-2 victory over the Asheville Tourists Sunday.

The Legends pounded out 13 hits, following up on an 18-hit attack in an 8-7, 10-inning victory over Asheville Saturday night.

With the score tied 1-1 in the fifth inning and runners at first and second, Jay Austin singled, scoring Jorge De Leon and giving the Legends the lead for good. Austin had three hits and is eight-for-15 since returning to action after missing 12 games due to a concussion suffered May 30. The Legends added another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Michael Diaz homered to lead off the sixth, his second of the year, and Eric Suttle and Austin added RBI singles.

Starter Robert Bono worked seven innings, his longest outing of the year, and picked up his sixth win against three losses. Bono, who has gone at least five innings in all 12 of his starts, allowed four hits and didn't walk a batter. Arcenio Leon retired six consecutive batters in the eighth and ninth.

Brian Pellegrini had three hits and two RBI for the Legends, and has driven six runs in the last three games. Pellegrini boosted his batting average to .347 with a double and two singles.
