Fashion 'Biz': Capetown

A few years ago I became enamored with a sweater poncho as I love all things soft. Plus, wearing something that felt like a blanket was wonderful! However, the capes I’m falling for now are more sophisticated and polished. These are definitely not your grandmother’s capes. They’re cut in a wide array of shapes and silhouettes.(Halston’s one-of-a-kind wool cape), accessorized with belts (as seen at Burberry and Halston), embellished with unique details (Tory Burch’s ‘Rene’ cape with snap closures) and prints (Burberry’s iconic patterned hooded version). Texture plays a huge role with fabrics ranging from wool and velvet, to synthetic and real fur (Trina Turk’s chestnut-colored faux fur capelet and an amazing gray dyed rabbit fur from Tory Burch).
A cape is all about versatility and you’ll be amazed at how seamlessly it works with practically everything in your wardrobe. From day to evening, its ability To transform an out fit is limitless. For a long and lean silhouette wear a pareddown or cropped style with Skinny pants, a pencil skirt, or a fitted dress with heels, either a boot or a shoe. Utility/military-influenced capes work best over narrow pants or a simple dress and boots. And my favorite, blanket styles and those with a bit of boho look great over jeans and a high, flat boot.
Best of all capes are very easy to wear, by women of all ages, and depending on the style, they are perfect for every occasion. From UK games to supper clubs to fundraisers, I can see this look on every lady in Lexington. Wrap yourself in one for the comfort, the feel and of course, the look, of this ultimate outerwear statement.
