Carter Caves State Resort Park is opening a new adventure activity area at the park – rappelling and rock climbing.
“We’re glad to add this new adventure activity area at Carter Caves, which already offers so many outdoor activities to guests,” Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker said. “This climbing and rappelling venue will attract more people to Carter Caves and this area.”
This free, self-guided activity is open to guests at the park. Anyone interested in taking part needs to register at the lodge front desk and obtain a permit. The climbing area will be open July 2 after 2 p.m.
Climbing anchors have been placed in a cliffside along the Three Bridges Trail, and climbers and rappellers can park nearby. Climbers and rappellers will be asked to follow a few rules such as climbing only during daylight hours, not climbing alone and using only the existing anchors for rigging. Climbers and rappellers ages 17 and under must have a parent or guardian sign for them. Climbers and rappellers need to be experienced and must also bring their own equipment.
Call the park at 1-800-325-0059 for more information.
