The Lexington Art League and Parks & Recreation are gearing up for the 40th annual Woodland Art Fair, presented by Nancy Barron and Nancy Barron & Associates. On August 15th and 16th the annual event will offer over 200 artists, live music, and a variety of delicious food. The Fair has received several national, regional & local honors, including being voted a Top 200 Fine Art & Design Show as well as a Top 10 Festival by The Kentucky Travel Industry Association. The fair is not only fun for adults; kids and pets are also welcome to come out and enjoy the festivities. The event is held inside the Woodland Park grounds and admission is free.
Meghan Trainor “The MTrain Tour” | August 20th
After a year of whirlwind success and a hit album, Meghan Trainor is taking her show on the road. On August 20th the “All About That Bass” singer will hit the stage during the Kentucky State Fair at Freedom Hall in Louisville. 21 year old Trainor will belt out catchy tunes like “Lips Are Movin’” and “Dear Future Husband”, in a variety of glitzy costumes. Pink Carpet Couture: A Tops & Tails Gala | August 22nd
What better way to bring awareness to breast cancer and raise money for a great cause than through fashion? Pink Carpet Couture: A Tops & Tails Event will be held on August 22nd at the Downtown Arts Center in Lexington. Proceeds from the event will go to the Susan G. Komen Lexington Affiliate. The event begins at 6 pm with food, cocktails, and a silent auction. At 8 pm, the fashion show begins in the black box theater featuring local models donning the latest styles. Following the fashion show, this year’s Men in Skirts participants will walk the runway in their skirts to support the fight against breast cancer. MoonTower Music Festival | August 29th
The 2nd annual MoonTower Music Festival will take place on Saturday August 29th. This year the festival moves from Midway’s Equus Run Vineyard to Lexington’s Masterson Station Park. With a line-up of talented regional acts, this year’s festival looks to be just as rich with entertainment and fun. Headlining yet again will be the Nashville based band, Moon Taxi. The group brought down the house when they closed last year’s festival and have been busy this summer playing gigs like the ever popular Bonnaroo. A few of Lexington’s biggest acts like Grayson Jenkins, Coralee and the Townies and Ben Sollee will also be hitting the stage. If you aren’t up for driving, the festival will have a bus running from Downtown throughout the day.
