Go Red for Women Luncheon to be Held in Lexington
Nationally Known Comedienne Kelly MacFarland is Featured Speaker
It’s not just a man’s disease. Each year, 1 in 3 women die of heart disease and stroke. But we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented. Join The American Heart Association to make a difference in the lives of local women at the Lexington Go Red for Women Luncheon on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at Lexington Center-Heritage Hall, 430 W. Vine Street, Lexington.
The event, which will be emceed by Nancy Cox of WLEX will showcase a Macy’s survivor fashion show featuring central and eastern Kentucky women with ties to heart disease and stroke. Nationally known comedienne and popular headliner Kelly MacFarland will be the featured speaker. Music will be provided by the all-female bluegrass band “Coaltown Dixie.”
The Go Red for Women Luncheon is designed to create an inspirational and informative atmosphere, which will encourage women and those who love them to become champions of health. It will also focus on the vitality and energy of women. During the educational breakout sessions, guests will have the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals and learn about such topics as blood pressure, cholesterol, fitness, nutrition and stroke prevention.
“Go Red For Women is about much more than wearing red on National Wear Red Day. It’s about making a change,” said Paula Hanson, Partner, Dean Dorton Allen Ford, PLLC and the chair of the 2015 Go Red for Women Luncheon in Lexington. “For more than a decade, millions of women have united to raise their voices about this silent killer. While we’ve made remarkable progress, nearly 1,100 women are still dying each day. But, with your help, many more lives can be saved.”
