Tonya Kappes: A Ghostly Grave signing and discussion

Come meet USA Today bestselling author and Kentucky's own Tonya Kappes! She will be discussing and signing TWO of her Ghostly Southern Mysteries: A Ghostly Grave and A Ghostly Undertaking! It will be a hauntingly good time! A Ghostly Grave Four years ago, the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home put Chicken Teater in the ground. Now undertaker Emma Lee Raines is digging him back up. The whole scene is bad for business, especially with her granny running for mayor and a big festival setting up in town. But ever since Emma Lee started seeing ghosts, Chicken's been pestering her to figure out who killed him. Something's definitely rotten in Sleepy Hollow--and Emma Lee just prays it's not her luck. A Ghostly Undertaking Bopped on the head from a falling plastic Santa, local undertaker Emma Lee Raines is told she's suffering from "funeral trauma." It's trauma all right, because the not-so-dearly departed keep talking to her. Take Ruthie Sue Payne--innkeeper, gossip queen, and arch-nemesis of Emma Lee's granny--she's adamant that she didn't just fall down those stairs. She was pushed. Now Emma Lee is stuck playing detective or risk being haunted forever.

Daryl Gregory: Discussing & Signing

Harrison Harrison--H2 to his mom--is a supernatural "sensitive" and a lonely teenager who's been terrified of the water ever since he was a toddler in California, when a huge sea creature capsized their boat, and his father vanished. Harrison and his mother have just moved to the worst possible place for a boy like him: Dunnsmouth, a Lovecraftian town perched on rocks above the Atlantic, where strange things go on by night, monsters lurk under the waves, and creepy teachers run the local high school. On Harrison's first day at school, his mother disappears at sea. Harrison must attempt to solve the mystery of her accident, which puts him in conflict with a strange church, a knife-wielding killer, and the Deep Ones, fish-human hybrids that live in the bay.

Aimee Zaring: Discussing and Signing

"Flavors from Home: Refuegees in Kentucky Share Their Stories and Comfort Foods" In "Flavors from Home," Aimee Zaring shares fascinating and moving stories of courage, perseverance, and self-reinvention from Kentucky's resettled refugees. Each chapter features a different person or family and includes carefully selected recipes. These traditional dishes have nourished both body and soul for people like Huong "CoCo" Tran, who fled South Vietnam in 1975 when Communist troops invaded Saigon, or Kamala Pati Subedi, who was stripped of his citizenship and forced out of Bhutan because of political and religious persecution. Featuring more than forty recipes from around the globe, " Flavors from Home" reaches across the table to explore the universal language of food. This evening will be co-hosted with Kentucky Refugee Ministries. A portion of the proceeds of the featured menu at Bronte Bistro and Flavors from Home will go back to KRM to support their mission.

Filmed entirely inside the narrow confines of a cable car, high above a jungle in Nepal, that transports villagers to an ancient mountaintop temple, it is an acute ethnographic investigation into culture, religion, technology and modernity. Free and open to the public. UK Student Center - Worsham Theater true DD/MM/YYYY
