Additional Info: Qualifications:

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department's unit of Epidemiology and Health Planning plays a vital role in monitoring, planning, investigating and controlling infectious and communicable diseases in Fayette County.

This position is responsible for the management and administration needed for functioning of the Communicable Disease unit.
 
Job Skills: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plans, operates, evaluates, and manages the communicable disease activities for the department.
Manages the communicable disease component of the health department including epidemiological and clinical evaluations of cases, clusters, and outbreaks of communicable disease and other conditions.
Coordinates as needed with PH clinic staff to provide appropriate services to communicable disease clients.
Assures compliance with applicable professional, regulatory, and administrative standards.

This position supervises three to ten subordinates, some of whom coordinate several other direct employees in the Communicable Disease unit and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Health Department's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in nursing, public health, community health, public administration, social work, or related field, 4 years related experience and one year supervisory experience; or Masters degree in a related field, 3 years experience and one year supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary group in settings where incumbent is not the direct manager.
