Amy & Taylor
Taylor Coates and Amy Lundergan met after a UK football game through the help of mutual friends. When Taylor decided to pop the question, he knew that taking her to the spot of their first official date, Harry’s in Hamburg, would be a sweet surprise. They were seated at the same table they shared on that date. Taylor listed the “Top Ten” reasons he loved Amy, then got down on one knee. Harry’s holds such a special place in Amy and Taylor’s hearts that they decided to kick off their wedding weekend with a welcome party on the Harry’s patio. The ceremony was held at Cathedral of Christ the King, which is the bride’s parish and site of her baptism, first communion, confirmation and her place of employment. Dr. Everett McCorvey coordinated over 32 musicians to perform in the cathedral. The bride walked down the aisle to The American Spiritual Ensemble’s version of “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King”, featuring African drummers. Fr. Jim Sichko sang both his homily and the consecration and paid tribute to the bride’s grandfather, who passed away only four days prior to the nuptials. The bride wore a Couture LeighAnn Belter design commissioned from European Bridal, adorned with Swarovski crystals and hand-sewn ivory lace. Amy held her late grandfather’s handkerchief and carried a bouquet of ivory blooms with a locket tucked inside bearing photos of her mother and father. She also wore an Irish claddagh charm that every member of the Lundergan family used for their Irish nuptials. The 10 bridesmaids wore Priscilla of Boston strapless gowns in English rose, complemented by hand-sewn ivory pearls and English rose flowers. The groom wore a Ralph Lauren black tuxedo and his late grandfather’s cuff links, a style complemented by the 10 groomsmen. The reception was held at the bride’s parents’ house, where she was raised and which had been host to the family’s three daughters’ previous weddings. Lundy’s Special Events created the theme of “Drink, Dine & Dance,” offering guests a feast for both their plates and their eyes. Lundy’s wanted guests to be filled with the upbeat spirit that both the bride and groom possess, achieved through plenty of entertainment and unique details. Four styles of music were featured. The String of Angels of New York played upon guests’ entrance, followed by The Ball Room Blasters Jazz Quartet leading into Big Swing and The Ball Room Blasters Motown Ensemble, concluding with Jordan English. A 9-foot, 450 pound crystal chandelier hung in the main reception tent. The tent itself bore over 2,000 pounds of lighting and was custom-designed. Over 55,000 flowers were used for the ceremony and reception. Twenty seven palm trees from Miami were hauled in and 375 pounds of seafood were flown in to accommodate the wedding’s 700 guests. Fare at the reception included dim sum, oysters, scallops, crab legs, petite coneys, duck, pasta, lamb and Kentucky tenderloin. There was a bride’s signature sweet shop, featuring hand-made cotton candy, delectable cupcakes, Kentucky bourbon balls and a variety of sweets and treats. Guests had their choice of three bars including a family barn converted into a Kentucky Proud Maker’s Mark Pavilion accompanied by authentic hand-rolled Cuban cigars. At midnight, the pool transformed into a breakfast bonanza where chefs prepared eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy and breakfast potatoes offered with Bloody Marys and Mimosas. The wedding cake was designed by Martine’s. Inspired by the bride and groom’s monogram, the traditional ivory 6-tier cake featured a handmade fondant design by Martine and the bride. A custom fireworks display, choreographed using the bride and groom’s names, helped the magical evening end with a bang!
