Chandria & Paul
They say that every little girl dreams of her fairy tale wedding day. Chandria made her dream a happily ever after on Saturday, May 24th. Chandria, a nurse at UK Hospital, met Dr. Paul Karpecki through a physician they both knew. The couple dated two years before they went away to the Biltmore Estate for a weekend trip. They planned a carriage ride through the beautiful grounds with flowers and wine. When the carriage driver told the couple that it was a perfect Kodak moment, Paul popped the question that set the dream in motion. Chandria tried to phone her family to share the happy news, but no one was answering. She was disappointed, of course. She and Paul went to make their dinner reservation, and she was surprised to learn that the restaurant didn’t have a reservation for two—but, instead, for twelve. Paul had arranged for their families to share in celebration there with them! For the special day, Central Christian Church was a vision of white, adorned with candles, white blooms and tulle. The seven bridesmaids wore matching black dresses and each carried a bouquet of bright pink flowers with green accents while the groomsmen sported fuchsia bouttonnieres. Nine child attendants in white and party pink added a sweet touch to the nuptials. In addition, there were six ushers and two bell ringers. Chandria and her mother walked down the aisle together in a touching remembrance of Chandria’s father, who passed away just one month before the wedding was set to take place. Chandria wore a strapless white ballgown with handsewn pearl, crystal and embroidered vine detailing by Moonlight. She wore a tiara, chandelier earrings and elbow-length satin gloves for a truly fairy tale style. Prior to the ceremony, Paul presented Chandria with a special gift—a David Yurman pendant featuring a blue topaz surrounded by diamonds. She gave him a Movado watch. Guests blew hundreds of bubbles as the couple made their way out of the church to their awaiting white Bentley, which whisked them away to the elegant reception at The Signature Club. Seasons Catering provided a unique plated dinner with wine course. The specialized menu featured dishes that were a bit different from typical wedding fare and pleased the palates of the 180 guests in attendance. Paul, a wine aficionado, served as sommelier for the evening, presenting different wines throughout the seated dinner. He offered a speech to accompany each new wine sample.
