Emily & Chase

Born and raised in Kentucky, Emily and Chase were good friends in high school. He asked her to senior prom and the pair have been together ever since. Though they went to colleges out of state, they returned to the Bluegrass to pursue their careers and to be with one another.

The pair had planned a trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic with another couple. After they’d dropped off their bags and taken a walk around the resort, Emily and Chase went back to their room briefly. Though he had planned to ask Emily for her hand in marriage the next day, Chase simply couldn’t wait to pop the question! Emily’s response was, “Absolutely!”

The wedding weekend got started on a Thursday with an informal gathering at the couple’s home. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Carrick House, hosted by the groom’s parents.

It was important to Emily and Chase to have their civil ceremony in an outdoor setting. This made Gratz Park a beautiful and ideal spot for their wedding, which was held on the exact 10-year anniversary of their first “date” at senior prom.

The couple stood with the officiant, the bride’s brother-in-law, between a floral “E” and “C” made by the matron of honor. To personalize the ceremony, the couple chose music and readings they loved, including the song “All of My Love”, which was the inscription on a ring that the groom had given the bride on their one year anniversary of dating.

Emily honored her paternal grandmother by wearing one of her pins and a lipstick shade called“ItalianRose”. Emilywore a ring belonging to her maternal grandmother and carried her hanky, which was tied around the bouquet. She sported hot pink rain boots, due to the weather.

The 4 bridesmaids wore navy dresses they chose themselves paired with navy rain boots. Their hairpieces were a gift from the mother of the bride and each bridesmaid wore a pair of custom earrings. The 5 groomsmen wore navy ties that were a gift from the groom. The cuff links resembled airplane propellers, as the groom and all but one of the groomsmen work in the airline industry.

The reception was held at the Historic Round Barn at The Red Mile. The food was chosen as a mix of Italian and Southern fair to highlight both families and feature the couple’s favorite foods. Appetizers included beer cheese (Chase’s favorite snack,) Italian pesto and sun-dried tomato spread. The salads featured Kentucky bibb lettuce, fruit and goat cheese with a bourbon citrus dressing. Dinner featured a chef station with prime rib and shrimp and cheese grits. The couple bucked tradition and featured Italian desserts instead of a cake.

The tables were adorned with milk glass vases collected by the bride, a bridesmaid and the bride’s mother from flea markets. The embroidered, monnogrammed table runners were made by Chase’s grandmother.

Guests danced the night away to tunes provided by Joey and the Cruisers. The couple savored every moment of the reception with their family and friends. When the night was through, the couple retired to sip champagne in their room and reflect on their beautiful wedding celebration.
