Heidi & Barrett
Heidi and Barrett met through their affiliation with his real estate company. After several long conversations outside of real estate, Barrett asked Heidi out for drinks. Their shared appreciation of inside jokes led to watching Heidi's DVR'd episodes of "Saturday Night Live". Barrett had been planning their engagement for weeks, imagining perfect scenarios for their special moment, from kneeling in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to proposing at the UK vs. UConn game at Madison Square Garden. However, the hustle and bustle of New York City kept getting in his way. During dinner after the game, Heidi could see that Barrett was acting peculiar. He knew it was time. They walked out onto the street and Barrett got down on one knee, poured his heart out and asked Heidi to marry him. People on the street clapped for the couple as they cried together and celebrated their engagement. The couple chose Castle Post as their wedding ceremony and reception location. The site offered an intimate feel while still giving the nuptials a fairy tale style. The couple turned to Jackie Lee of Every Last Detail for their wedding planning needs and enlisted Sally Foster of Urbaniste for additional assistance. Heidi underwent an emergency surgery that nearly derailed the planning and execution of their wedding, but their many wonderful vendors and her groom stepped in to make it a fairytale wedding. Heidi wore an Allure Bridals ball gown featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline with a beaded bodice. The drop waist A-line skirt featured pickups throughout. She carried loosely-tied ivory Virginia roses, wrapped with ivory French ribbon and pinned with pearls. Heidi chose two maids of honor, both of whom were dressed in black taffeta with matching accessories, matching shoes and necklaces featuring a signature bow. Each maid of honor chose her own style of dress and carried a loosely-tied bouquet featuring a cluster of ivory Hydrangea, wrapped in gold French ribbon, created by Crist Creona Floral Designs. Barrett wore a black executive tuxedo by Calvin Klein with a Jean Yves vest and a Windsor- knotted tie. The best men and groom's father coordinated with matching Windsor-knotted ties. A horse-drawn carriage from Around the Town Carriage and Stagecoach brought Heidi to the ceremony and her entrance song was a slow piano arrangement of "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure. Their nuptials included unique details to honor the bride and groom and their loved ones. Two vases were placed at the ceremony site, one to honor the groom's mother and one in memory of the bride's deceased parent. Guests placed single bow-tied ivory roses in one of the vases as they took their seats. The couple also included a Family Medallion Ceremony where the couple presented the bride's son, Tre, with a necklace representing his place in their union and the groom expressed his love, intent and devotion. Guests were encouraged to explore Castle Post at their leisure during the cocktail hour. They sampled gorgonzola and Italian sausage crostinis, brie and raspberry tarts, marinated mozzarella and cherry tomato skewers and bourbon-glazed shrimp prepared by Chef Cameron. The reception progressed into the ballroom, where guests were treated to a first course that offered a choice of roasted tomato basil soup or harvest salad. The entrée was herb-crusted airline chicken breast with roasted fingerling potatoes, season vegetables and red wine jus lie, followed by a dessert of chocolate mousse with coffee selection. The three-tier round wedding cake was created by Caramanda's Bake Shoppe. The bottom layer was white chocolate raspberry cake with raspberry filling, the middle tier featured chocolate cake with raspberry filling and the top was a white chocolate raspberry anniversary cake with raspberry filling. The whole cake was covered with an ivory satin ice fondant and scroll motif created with edible gold. The cake display was created by the bride to complement the grand reception site and was surrounded by linens customized by Julie Murphy's Parasol. Pianist Jeff Greene played throughout the evening. Sparklers lit up the night as the couple exited Castle Post, creating a story book ending for the fairy tale wedding of Heidi and Barrett.- Monday, May 21st
