Lydia & Adam
To say that Adam Terry was moved by Lydia Capps is an understatement. After being introduced by mutual friends, the couple spent the next few months trying to make time between traveling for school and work to be together. They found that they had much in common, having grown up in small Kentucky towns near each other. Both shared a love of hunting, kayaking the Cumberland River, UK sports and bourbon. But distance was a problem, and when she finally said no to a long distance relationship, Adam changed jobs and moved to Lexington to be near Lydia who had started Pharmacy school at UK.For New Year’s in 2012, the couple visited the Barnsley Gardens in Georgia. During half time of the UK vs. UL basketball game, Adam suggested a walk which led them to a pond where a picnic lunch had been prepared. Adam opened a bottle of wine, they roasted marshmallows by the fire and then Adam got down on one knee and proposed. Lydia immediately called her mom to tell her, and to check on the score of the game! The couple chose First United Methodist Church of Lexington where they are members, to have their ceremony. The church was decorated with an arbor of white hydrangeas and willow branches, hydrangeas on each pew and wreaths hung from the stained glass windows. Their ceremony was filled with tender moments. Both the bride and groom were very close to their mothers and asked that each of them do a reading during the ceremony. Lydia was escorted down the aisle by her brother. Lydia wore an ivory Christos gown with a sweetheart neckline and Swiss dot pattern accented with a flowered belt at the waist. Adam wore chocolate brown handmade alligator cowboy boots and sported a Tag Heuer watch which was a gift from his bride. The reception was held at the Lexington Country Club. Guests dined on filet mignon and chicken cordon bleu, potatoes and mixed vegetables. After dinner, Lydia’s brother played acoustic guitar for their first dance. He also played some original tunes later in the evening. One of the couple’s favorite moments was when they saw each other for the first time. Lydia says she will never forget the look on his face when he told her how beautiful she was. The only thing Lydia would do differently is not stress so much, keeping in mind the most important thing is that you are marrying the love of your life, and everything else will fall into place.
