The purpose of the program is to promote community outreach, educational awareness of famous/outstanding African-American/African descent music composers, and showcase professional and outstanding amateur musicians within the surrounding communities. There are thousands of celebrated and prodigiously talented classical principals, composers, and performers of African descent throughout the world. Some are: · Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Guadeloupe (c. 1739–1799) · Adolphus Hailstork, USA (born 1941) · Scott Joplin, USA (1868–1917) · Florence Beatrice Price, USA (1887–1953) · Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, England (1875–1912) • George Walker, USA (born 1922) · Mary Lou Williams, USA (1910–1981) FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
