Register early and save your space! Class descriptions: Slow Flow Yoga is about strengthening and deep stretching in the body while moving to a slower rhythm of movement with coordinated breath work. This class is great for the beginning student to get introduced to proper alignment, and an experienced yogi to get details on essential alignment for a safe, more rigorous, practice. We can carry our practice of Slow Flow into our everyday lives. It will help us be more mindful, grounded, peaceful, and balanced in everything we do. Laughter Yoga will help you discover the amazing medicine of laughter! No flexibility or sense of humor required!! Laughing for no reason is a purely physical process that uses simple breathing techniques and fun laughter exercises to elicit laughter, without relying on humor, jokes, or comedy. It’s based on the scientific fact that the body cannot tell the difference between fake and real laughter. It decreases stress and anxiety, improves your mood, strengthens your immune system, is a natural pain killer, and oxygenates the body! Yoga Nidra and Sound Healing will take you in and out of a meditation developed to release tension through all the layers of being (physical, energetic, emotional/mental, wisdom, and bliss). Relax, rejuvenate, and promote healing with this guided relaxation where all you have to do to get the benefits is get comfortable and listen. Instructors: Jaime Brown: Laughter is the best medicine! Jaime discovered Laughter Yoga at PlayThink 2015 and hasn’t looked back. Her goal is it to let everyone know that laughter is a tool, a tool that is with them at all times, that will make you feel better, and can be used at any time. Jaime has worked as a researcher in the psychology department at the University of Kentucky for over 15 years. Her studies taught her about the healing benefits of movement, laughter, and love. She became a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader on October 4, 2015 and has taught at retirement homes, schools, yoga studios, festivals, and private events. Andri Kukas: Andri is the owner and operator of Thrive Studios in Old Town, Berea, KY which offers a variety of movement, yoga, and dance classes as well as massage therapy and craniosacral therapy. She is a mother, healer, environmentalist, dancer, gardener, and lover of life. Andri is a Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, and Certified Yoga Instructor with regular classes in Berea, KY. Romana Kalova: Romi’s vision is to bring the heart of yoga and its true purpose as a way of finding happiness to you. She moved to Lexington from Chicago in May of 2008, where she lived since she came from the Czech Republic in 2004. She received her initial Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and became a certified yoga instructor. Since the beginning of Romi's yogic path it has been a journey of healing and personal transformation and her experience led her to embark on an in-depth experiential study of yoga as a healing art with Joseph and Lilian Le Page and Integrative Yoga Therapy. She became a Certified Yoga Therapist, C-IAYT, recognized by International Association of Yoga Therapists. In 2015, she was led to visit India and in the traditional ashram setting in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, she studied Sanskrit, Nada Yoga (Yoga of Sound), Bhakti (Yoga of Devotion), advanced subjects of mantra, and tanpura - the traditional Indian string instrument. She became certified in the Heart of Sound -the world's first 200 hour yoga teacher training based entirely on the transformational power of sound. In her classes, she teaches students to balance strength with inner softness, open the heart and mind, listen to the body, and uncover the quiet place of peace, wisdom, and happiness that lies within each of us.
