Independents Week Begins

Lexington, KY—On Monday, July 2, 2018, at 3:00pm, Mayor Jim Gray will present a proclamation declaring July 1-7 “Independents Week” in Lexington. News media are invited to attend the Mayor’s brief presentation to representatives of independent local businesses and Local First Lexington, a nonprofit organization that champions Central Kentucky’s unique companies, charities, and consumers.

Lexington’s Independents Week also includes an #IndependentsLex social media campaign. Participating Central Kentucky residents are eligible for five daily drawings to win gift certificates to Local First Lexington member businesses. July 1-7, consumers can enter by taking a selfie at any independently owned local business and posting it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #IndependentsLex, plus tagging @LocalFirstLexington and the local business.
