WINE SPECTATOR SELECTS COLES 735 MAIN AS WINNER

Coles 735 Main’s wine program honored as outstanding among thousands of restaurants worldwide

Coles 735 Main has been announced as a winner of Wine Spectator Magazine’s 2018 Award of Excellence in their Restaurant Awards program, placing it among the top restaurants in the world for dedication to a wine program that excels.

This year, Wine Spectator is honoring 3,759 restaurants, located in all 50 states and over 75 countries and territories, for having outstanding wine lists. Representing a variety of dining establishments around the world, the 2018 winners all share a passion for exploring and sharing the world of wine, whether through eclectic flights or cellars laden with well-aged gems from Burgundy and Bordeaux. Coles is among only ten establishments statewide to receive recognition.

Coles 735 Main was selected for the Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Ranging in size from 90 selections to several hundred, these lists are well focused and tend to emphasize discovery.

Coles has been dedicated to excellence in their wine program since opening in 2012. Led by Sommelier and General Manager Chris Hutchison, the wine list is carefully curated to represent a variety of small producers and high-quality brands from around the world as well as the Bluegrass Region. The more than 300 wine selections on the menu are constantly rotating and changing to remain contemporary and interesting for diners.

The restaurant periodically hosts intimate evening “Wine Dinners,” hosting a representative of a chosen vineyard to share an inside look at their wines, which are paired with a specially prepared Coles 735 Main tasting menu. Hutchison also holds weekly staff wine tastings and monthly training sessions to ensure the serving team is passionate and knowledgeable about the offerings.

“It’s a great honor to be included as a Wine Spectator Restaurant Award winner among such prestigious company across the world,” said Chris Hutchison. “We strive to delight our guests, whether with interesting, hard-to-find wines or knowing the perfect pairing with our seasonal menu items. I believe every bottle of wine tells a story, and it is a joy to share that story with our guests every day.”

Coles’ win will be featured in Wine Spectator’s August 31 issue, which hits newsstands on Tuesday, July 17.
