Bike Lexington Will Take Place This Fall on Sept. 28

The Bike Lexington Family Fun Ride, one of Lexington’s most cherished, family-friendly events, will be moved to the fall this year. Bike Lexington, presented by Pedal Power, will take place on September 28 and will launch from the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. Attendees can expect a kids’ rodeo before the event, and other lively programming. Activities begin at 8:00 a.m. and the ride begins at 10:00 a.m.

Pedal Power Bike Shop says, “Since 1973 we have made it our mission to support safe and fun cycling in our city. We are once again proud to be the presenting sponsor of Bike Lexington! For us this event is our annual celebration! It is a chance for us to watch our community fall in love with biking, and experience Lexington in a whole new way. We can’t wait to see everyone out and about on this new fall date!”

The University of Kentucky is also a generous supporter of the event this year. The Bike Lexington route will go through part of UK’s campus, and riders can expect some fun, UK-themed surprises along the way.

Sandra Broadus, Alternative Transportation Manager at UK, says, “UK is excited to help support Bike Lexington this year and to have the event come through campus and take place when students will be in town to participate. We are building on our recognition as a gold-level Bicycle Friendly University, and are working to expand connectivity between campus and downtown. Bike Lexington is a great way to maintain that momentum.”

Laura Farnsworth, Events Director, says, “Downtown Lexington Partnership is thrilled for the opportunity to reimagine this family-friendly event. We believe that the September date, coupled with new partnerships that allow new portions of the route, will provide a fun, safe, and exciting bicycle ride throughout downtown.”
