What: Open Studios Weekend is Lexington’s first ever two-day event during which local artists will open their creative spaces to the public.

Who: 64 Lexington artists in 16 different locations will participate in this weekend.  Some are already established artists with national collector status, others are looking to gain recognition and therefore eager to show their work and their talent.  Painting, mixed media, sculpture, glass, woodwork, ceramic, jewelry, fiber as well as other mediums are all represented.

Why: This event is designed to offer visitors the unique chance to experience these creative spaces, many of which are tucked away.  The self-guided tour is focused on demystifying the artistic practice through demonstrations and presentation of works in-progress as well as finished pieces that will be for sale.  It is also intended to encourage conversations and develop understanding between art appreciators and creators and has the potential to initiate lasting relationships.

When: Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 12 noon – 6:00pm

Where: Throughout Lexington/Fayette County

Note: There will be an Opening Exhibition and Reception to launch this weekend.  Work previously submitted by OSW participating artists and subsequently selected will be displayed in a double exhibition co-hosted by MS Rezny Studio/Gallery at 903 Manchester Street and New Editions Gallery at 500 West Short Street.

This Opening Exhibition and Reception will be on Friday, 18th October 5-7:30pm at both galleries simultaneously.  It will be free and open to the public with refreshments and a cash wine bar.

Tickets: The weekend studio tour is a self-guided ticketed event.  Tickets are available online at at the earlybird price of $15.  Tickets will include a comprehensive Artists Directory and user friendly studio location maps. Also available at either the MS Rezny Studio/Gallery or New Editions Gallery locations throughout the weekend for $20.
