Hiring of Clarissa Thomas as Director of Education

Promotion of Anne Donworth to Director of Development, Marketing, and Communications

Lexington, Kentucky (June 22, 2021) – The Lexington Public Library announced that Clarissa Thomas has joined the Library’s Leadership Team as Director of Education.  Ms. Thomas will oversee all educational programs and services to ensure that the Library’s offerings meet the needs of our community.  Her first priorities will be workforce development, support for K-12 students in the aftermath of the pandemic, and reviewing educational services with a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Ms. Thomas previously served in student and academic support roles for ten years at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Higher Education in 2018 and has seven additional years of classroom teaching experience at different levels.

Working alongside Ms. Thomas, the Library promoted Anne Gay Donworth to serve as Director of Development, Marketing, and Communications.  Ms. Donworth has led the Lexington Public Library Foundation since 2013 and the Library’s Marketing Department on an interim basis since March 2020.
