Hey guys, feeling like your body has been hijacked? Women aren’t the only ones who strive for those unattainable Photoshopped bods!
These 2 simple strategies can help. You probably won’t look like Tom Brady, but no one really wants that body if it means no sugar! You will feel more energy, become leaner and feel better.
1 | Consistency compounds results.
You have to show up more than once a week. The more you move, the more results you will see. Be honest with yourself about what you like to do! If you don’t enjoy doing it, you won’t do it consistently.
Do you need energy around you? Then group fitness might be your thing. There are so many options right here in Lexington. Many classes have the feel of a great concert or fun party. Some classes are even taught in the dark, combining group energy and privacy. Bonus!
Need more accountability or privacy? Personal trainers provide both. Too pricey? Ask a coach if you can train once a month one on one, but also get workout routines to do solo.
The best coaches will work with your budget.
Still too pricey? Get outside! Walking works! So does lifting some weighty objects at home or doing old school body weight moves like push-ups or jumping jacks. There are thousands of free videos on YouTube to help you get started.
The bottom line: Getting your heart rate up 20 minutes 2-3 times a week can be life changing.
2 | The 80/20 fix.
A very smart dietician and nutritionist once told me that you can never out-train bad eating. This is so true! The older we get, this becomes even more apparent.
That same brilliant lady told me “to eat some F*#*ing salads.” She was right. I was working out all the time but eating garbage, so I wasn’t seeing results. Eating a salad for one meal each day made all the difference.
Aim for your plate to be 80 % colorful veggies, 20% protein and fat or carbs 3/4 of the time. The rest of time, enjoy what you crave.
The longer you stick with it, the more results you will see. You didn’t get out of shape overnight, so it’s not going to change overnight. Remember, consistency compounds results.
If you really want to live a full life, it doesn’t come free. It comes when you commit to you.
