Lexington, KY – Continuing an annual tradition, Fortune Collision Centre is proud to partner with Reforest the Bluegrass for this year’s tree-planting event. The event will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Veterans Park, 650 Southpoint Drive. Reforest the Bluegrass is open to the public and free to attend for people of all ages—no previous tree-planting experience required. Planting trees in the community decrease the amount of stormwater runoff, which reduces soil erosion and pollution in our waterways and may lessen the effects of flooding. Trees also provide habitats for the many birds in our beautiful state, with over 300 birds thriving in our humid subtropical climate.
“We look forward to this event every year,” said JP Miller, CEO and Dealer Principle of the Paul Miller Motor Company, which owns Fortune Collision Centre. “As a Lexington-based, family-owned business for 65 years, it’s rewarding to know that we’re giving back to the community by restoring our local landscape.”
Fortune Collision Centre has partnered with Reforest the Bluegrass since 2009. Together, Fortune Collision Centre and Reforest the Bluegrass have planted approximately 20,000 trees throughout Central Kentucky. Previous planting sites include the Kentucky Horse Park, Deep Spring Planting Area, and the Legacy Trail. During the nearly 20-year history of Reforest the Bluegrass, more than 185 acres of urban and streamside forest have been restored, with nearly 136,000 native tree seedlings planted.
For Fortune Collision Centre, this is a full-staff initiative with an overarching mission of making Lexington greener. We hope that our efforts will contribute to improving our air quality and beautifying the community where our loyal customers reside. Fortune Collision Centre donates one seedling for every customer that it has serviced during the past 12 months. 40-50 employees of Paul Miller Ford and Fortune Collision Centre will attend the event with their families. In addition to planting trees, employees will serve free hot dogs and beverages to all guests, including local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops. Every customer is invited to join in the fun!
Reforest the Bluegrass is a family-friendly event. Participants don’t need a green thumb to attend, and tree-planting training will be provided throughout the day. Volunteers will receive a free lunch and a free T-shirt while supplies last!
