BLUE STALLION MISSION MONDAYS CELEBRATE ONE YEAR

Blue Stallion Brewing recently celebrated a one year milestone since the launch of their Mission Monday program. The basis of the program is the brewery donates 10% of taproom sales to a central Kentucky non-profit eachMonday. The initiative was announced in November 2014, with the first events held in early 2015.
"It began as a discussion of how we can give back to the community we love so much. We decided donating 10% of taproom sales to local non-profits was a great idea," said co-owner Kore Donnelly.
In addition to the 10% of sales donated to that day's local non-profit, the featured organizations also hold their own fundraising activities in the Blue Stallion taproom and use the event as a platform to promote their cause. Some groups supported by the Mission Monday program in 2015 include: GleanKY, Finley Foundation, GPA Lex, Community Action Council, The Nest, Explorium of Lexington, Friends of Lexington Public Library, among many others.
The brewery took the first few months of the past year spreading the word about Mission Mondays. That effort paid off with a different non-profit featured every single Monday for the past six months.
For 2015 Blue Stallion Brewing held events for 31 local non-profit organizations and donated almost $4,000 to those same groups. The owners estimate an additional $6,000 was raised by the non-profits themselves through fundraising efforts within the taproom including silent auctions, raffles, cooking contests, and more. All told, in its first year, the Mission Monday program had an estimated impact of close to $10,000 for central Kentucky non-profits.
"While we're very proud of the success Mission Mondays have seen so far, we want to grow in the second year. The goal is to double our donation amount to $8,000 for 2016. With our customers' help, we know we can reach that goal," said co-owner Xavier Donnelly.
Interested 501(c)(3) organizations, whose mission involves positively affecting the central Kentucky community, can find out how to get involved with the Mission Monday program on the brewery's website: http://bluestallionbrewing.com/missionmondays
