(Registration open now, event will be Sunday, October 4, 10 a.m., Raven Run Nature Sanctuary) - Join the Friends of Raven Run and Lexington Parks and Recreation for the inaugural 10 kilometer trail run “The Raven” at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. Participants need to contend with grassy meadows, hard-packed dirt, and natural trails consisting of mud, rocks, roots, ruts, walnuts, ginkgo balls, wet leaves and very narrow stretches. Registration is now open online at www.ravenrun.org with all proceeds supporting a grant system to be used by city schools to offset the costs of transporting children to the nature center for programs. Join BGT deTours on Wed., Sept. 2 we explore Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church, located at 575 Walnut Hill Rd. We will begin gathering for the BGT deTour at 5:30 pm before beginning at 6:00 pm. As always, BGT deTours are free and open to the public. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church is the oldest Presbyterian Church Building in Kentucky. The current church was built in 1801, replacing a 1785 log structure. The building underwent a renovation in the 1880s and the interior today reflects that renovation. Following the deTour, we will head to Jean Farris Winery (6825 Old Richmond Road) for our social AfterHour.
