Ready for Summer? Early Bird Registration for YMCA Summer Camps Begins March 2

This Year the Y Will Run Central Kentucky’s Largest Field Day Event on July 9

When summer ends, parents want to hear from their kids what made their summer fun, and the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s camp program is filled with adventures, experiences and themes that will create memories to be remembered beyond the season, they’ll be remembered for a lifetime.

This year, one of those never to be forgotten events will be the Y’s first annual CAMP CHALLENGE 2020,most likely the largest field day event in Central Kentucky.

“Our summer camps enable children to stay engaged socially and physically, and develop their talentsand confidence,” said Paula Anderson, chief operating officer and interim chief executive officer of theYMCA of Central Kentucky. “At Y camps, children are in a safe, welcoming environment where they can belong, experience new things, make new friends and discover their potential.”

Early bird camp registration begins March 2, and continues through March 16. The $35 registration fee will be waived during that period and those who register will be entered into a drawing to win a free week of camp.

Headlining to this summer’s camp lineup will be CAMP CHALLENGE 2020 when Y summer campers fromall locations come together July 9 for a giant field day at Lexmark’s Shadybrook Park.

“CAMP CHALLENGE 2020 is a unique event and we’re excited to offer this to families this year,” said Anderson. “We’d like to thank White, Greer & Maggard Orthodontics for being a proud partner of the Y’ssummer camps, and also Lexmark, for enabling this event to take place on their property.”

Y camps begin in June at multiple locations in Central Kentucky and feature outdoor fun and adventure throughout the summer. Unique camps include the Leaders in Training for older children, ages 12-16, at the High Street YMCA and the Bar Y Adventure Camp in Woodford County. Preschool camps are available at the Whitaker Family YMCA.

Some of the themed weeks in 2020 include, “You’re A Wizard,” “Hydration Vacation,” “Super Heroes Near and Far,” and “Aloha Summer.” To view the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s 2020 camp brochure andexplore our summer offerings, please click here.
