Select Medical is relocating its Select Specialty Hospital-Lexington to Danville the week of May 4, 2020 and will continue to take referrals from the Lexington and greater Danville areas. Many staff will also relocate.
The critical illness recovery hospital will occupy the fourth floor of Ephraim McDowell Health (EMH) and treat chronically, critically ill patients who require an extended stay after being stabilized and transferred from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The arrangement between Select Medical and EMH is called a “hospital within a hospital” and places patients in close proximity to ancillary services, tests and procedures required as part of their extended care. It also allows EMH physicians to closely follow the progress of patients’ ongoing recovery.
