Outfit of the Week: Madame Butterfly

Jesse L. Brooks

As the weather heats up and staying in restrictions slowly start to loosen, we have our minds on spring and summer fashion. Nothing exudes femininity with ease, quite like an airy, colorful summer dress. Oscar de la Renta's ever-present romanticism comes to life in this cherry red sleeveless design. This Italian piece, printed with a charming floral and butterfly motif, is crafted from stretch-cotton twill to a simple silhouette with a square neckline and a loosely ruffled midi skirt. We wanted the accessories to be vibrant and reminiscent of the shades you would see in a beautiful, flourishing garden. These fresh and fabulous sandals from Gianvito Rossi are constructed of smooth leather, featuring a slip-on style with a supple ankle strap in a mimosa-yellow hue. Next, we elevated the color story even higher, with Celine's classic python shoulder bag in a striking electric blue, and boho-inspired mini marbled hoop earrings by Lele Sadoughi. Our final touch comes from Laura Mercier's Paint Wash Liquid Lipstick in a ravishing shade of classic red. This formula gives its wearer a fresh, creamy coat of intense liquid demi-matte color that floats onto your lips and stays on throughout the day. While social distancing is still very much a daily requirement, in this outfit, you will charm as "Madame Butterfly" even from afar.
