OUTFIT OF THE WEEK: SOLDIER CHIC

By Jesse L. Brooks

Now that Thanksgiving is over we've got Christmas on the brain.

When we first saw the star of this week's look we immediately thought of The Nutcracker, and from there our latest Outfit of The Week was born.

Embellished with gilded frogging and logo-embossed buttons, Burberry's impeccably cut jacket plays on its military heritage. Crafted from forest-green wool, it has a neat cropped shape balanced by dropped shoulders and lengthy sleeves. Since this outfit is an even mix of dressy and casual, a great pair of jeans are in order. FRAME's 'Ali' jeans are cut for a skinny fit, but thanks to the label's premium 'Super Stretch' denim, they feel comfortably flexible. This high-rise is lightly whiskered and faded to make them look like an old favorite. To keep things airy under our stylish jacket, Raey's nude cami top is a must; cut in the UK from lustrous lightweight silk-satin to a loose shape that suspends from skinny shoulder straps and a deep V-neck and back. Now on to our showstopping shoes! Over the last week the world said farewell to one of the best in the fashion business, Azzedine Alaïa. So not only are these beauties perfect for our look, they're also a little tribute to one of the greatest. The late designer's 'Bombe' sandals are lined in cushioning leather and hand embellished with gunmetal studs at the ankle strap.  Keeping our purse on the smaller side, we wanted a piece that wasn't overpowering, yet was still completely covet worthy. Saint Laurent's 'Monogram Blogger' bag is a union of two of our favorite trends, champagne hues and bohemian details. Crafted from smooth Italian leather, this compact design is trimmed with a sizable tassel and signature 'Cassandre' hardware. The makeup for this look is all about the eyes. Mac's glitter-streaked Dazzleshadow is like a light show for your lids. The rich, stay true pigments adhere to the skin with minimal fallout, imparting eyes with a beautiful, twinkling sheen. This ensemble is proof of how easy it is to pull inspiration from the things you love, especially during the holiday season. Whether you're off to a dinner or a low-key party, in this outfit you will be saluted for your 'Solider Chic' style.
